Four years have passed since the liberation of the Minjivan settlement

Today, October 21, is the day when the Minjivan settlement of the Zangilan region was liberated from the occupation of the Armenian armed forces.

Oku.Az-Four years have passed since the settlement, which is one of the ancient settlements of Azerbaijan, was cleared of Armenian invaders.

On October 21, 2020, in addition to Minjivan settlement, the districts of Babayli, Third Aghaly, Saril, Khumarli, Hajalli, Khurama, Jahangirbeyli, Turabad, Icheri Mushlan, Kirag Mushlan, Malikli, Udgun, Baharli, Balyand, Papi, Tulus of Jabrayil district, the villages of Tinli, Yechtagozlu, Ashaghi Seyidahmadli and Zargar of Fuzuli district were liberated from invaders.

The Minjivan settlement is located on the banks of the Araz River, on the plain. In the years 1795-1798, as a result of famine, it was formed as a result of the settlement of families from the village of Minjivan in southern Azerbaijan, and the new district was also given the name of the village. In the 19th century, two villages called Minjivan were recorded in Zangezur district.

The settlement was occupied by the Armenian armed forces in 1993. Before the occupation, on the territory of the settlement there were residential buildings, schools, libraries, kindergartens and a railway station. After the first Karabakh war, the Armenians destroyed all residential buildings, schools, libraries, kindergartens and dismantled the railway. The enemy sold part of the roads here and built anti-tank fortifications on part of them.
