The establishment of this significant day is related to the date of the liberation of the city of Agdam from the occupation of the Armenian armed forces. Today, November 20, four years have passed since the city was cleared of Armenian invaders.
It should be recalled that the Aghdam region was occupied by the Armenian armed forces on July 23, 1993. 846.8 square kilometers, that is, 77.4%, one city and 80 villages of Agdam, located in the center of Karabakh, They fell into the hands of the Armenians. 26 of 38 collective-soviet farms, 105 of 129 health centers, 74 of 108 schools, 199 of 271 cultural houses, 24 construction organizations, 67 administrative institutions and 14 of 17 mosques in the region were under occupation. Altogether, all buildings (historical, cultural, religious and national monuments) of Azerbaijan in the occupied territory of the region were destroyed or razed to the ground by the Armenian invaders. Agdam gave 6,000 martyrs in battles with the enemy, 16 of them are national heroes of Azerbaijan.
As a result of Azerbaijan’s brilliant victory in the Patriotic War, Agdam was freed from the enemy without firing a single shot.
Thus, starting from September 27, 2020, the Azerbaijani army began large-scale counteroffensive operations for the freedom of the ancient lands of our country. During the military operations, the lands occupied for many years were liberated village by village by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces.
On the 44th day of our war for justice, the night of November 9-10, the President of Azerbaijan Ilham AliyevArmenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a declaration on a complete ceasefire and all military operations in the conflict zone.
