France made a frying pan to a national recall of various types of cheese after the death of two people from bacterial infections.
The review applies to the soft cheeses of the Chavegrand brand, such as BRI and CAMBER, sold in the supermarket.
According to the French public health service, twenty people aged 34 to 95 were sick. Two people died.
Sanitary officials said they discovered “a possible connection between these cases of leisterosis and the consumption of cheeses from pasteurized milk produced by Chavegrand.”
Listerosis is a rare infection that people usually suffer, using products infected with a bacterium. According to the health agency, it is unusual for Listrier to be in pasteurized cheeses, but this is probably because it is so widespread in the environment.
Most infected people will not have at all or will have mild symptoms of food poisoning, such as fever, pain, diarrhea and chills. But in some cases, leaferiosis can cause a life -threatening disease.
Pregnant women, children, elderly people and people with a weakened immune system are at greater risk.
French health officials called on citizens not to consume cheeses and carefully monitor their health if they consume them recently.
Symptoms of leaferosis can begin up to eight weeks after one eats contaminated products.
“Anyone who consumed (these cheeses) and has a fever, either individually, or accompanied by headaches and pain in the body, should consult a doctor and inform him of their use,” the French health department said.
