In 10 months of 2024, the volume of cargo transportation in Kazakhstan increased by 3.5% and amounted to 263 million 400 thousand tons. This was announced by the Minister of Transport of the Republic, Marat Karabaev, at a meeting of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
According to him, internal transportation increased by 10.8%, reaching 156.2 million tons. During the same period last year, 141 million 200 thousand tons were transported.
Karabaev added that the volume of transit freight transportation remained at the level of last year and amounted to 22.4 million tons. At the same time, container transit increased by 7.5% to 1 million 156 thousand TEU. Last year, this figure rose to 1 million 75 thousand TEU (the equivalent of twenty feet, a conventional unit of measurement of the quantitative aspect of transport flows, the performance of container terminals or the capacity of cargo vehicles) .
