Marbella witnessed an emotional final farewell to Julien Muñozformer mayor of the city, who died at the age of 76 after a long battle with lung cancer. At San Barnabas Funeral Home, family and friends reunited to pay tribute to his life and legacy.
His wife, Mayte Zaldívar, was with his daughters, Eloísa and Elia, throughout the day. At six o’clock in the afternoon, a funeral mass was celebrated during which Zaldívar, visibly moved, commented: “It’s a bit of a difficult time for me. I didn’t miss anyone.”His words reflect the deep pain the family feels at this delicate time.
Tears and shared memories marked the farewells, with Heloisewhom Julian adopted after his father’s untimely death, and ElYoa, accompanied by her husband Raúl Berrocal, who appeared visibly moved. Also present were Fernando Marcos, who has had a close relationship with Mayte for more than two decades, and the former mayor’s grandson, Fran Redondo, who has become the family’s spokesman.
