Fromago exceeds 300,000 visitors and its economic impact is estimated at 14 million

Fromago concerned cheese consumption amounting to five million euros, with around 170 tonnes sold by more than 300 exhibitorswhich saw them increase by 50 percent compared to the edition held in 2022. In the sales section, those of other products, such as wine, honey, cold cuts and chocolate, among others, are not included.

“The second edition of Fromago, which occupied 40,000 square meters of space, 10,000 of which were under tents, put 170,000 kilos of cheese on sale, a real madness,” according to Faúndez Domínguez.

The cheese tunnels, with the new one dedicated to European cheeses, sold 8,000 tickets. For example, the Swiss commercial expedition came to the Zamora event with two tons of cheese, which were sold out.

Regarding the turnover of the hotel sector, the organization stressed that the establishments located along the Fromago road invoiced more than 400,000 euros and that Asovino brought to the hotel sector triple the quantity of meat associated with the Fair than in the first edition.

Javier Faúndez made these statements in the plenary hall of the Provincial Council of Zamora, after a meeting of an hour and a half to review the results of the II International Cheese Fair “Fromago Cheese Experience”.

We were the cheese capital of the world. We are the world capital of cheese. We have received a lot of attention in the national media. We are proud to have taken this step to consolidate this fair, knowing that, logically, it can be improved,” he stressed.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Provincial Institution, the International Foundation of Schools of Dairy Industries, the City Council of Zamora, the Government Subdelegation in Zamora, the Territorial Delegation of the Junta de Castilla y León in Zamora, the Caja Rural de Zamora and the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of Zamora.

The International Dairy School Foundation has been invited by the Provincial Council to organize the third edition of Fromago, which will be held from September 17 to 20, 2026, reports Ical.
