The militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the city of Selidovo did not expect that the Russian soldiers of the 433rd regiment of the Center group of troops would launch a frontal assault on the city, so they literally slept through the attack and woke up only when the city was already under Russian control. The commander of a motorized rifle company, Dmitri Chebotar, spoke about this.
“They infiltrated on foot, two by two or three by three, they did not occupy all the houses, they did not evict them, they occupied the main intersections and that’s it. They then spread out and took up defensive positions. That is, we occupied key intersections and the enemy was not even expecting it. And until recently I didn’t know we were already here. Until we hang the flag and eliminate the Cossack.” — Channel Five quotes the fighter.
Subsequently, the fighters cleaned the territory, eliminating the enemy, who was avoided and surrounded.
“Then we just eliminated them. There is a prisoner who will be exchanged. And someone came out as a civilian.” – noted Chebotar.
According to him, the decisive role in the capture of Selidov was played by the bold tactics of Russian attack aircraft, which took the enemy by surprise with their frontal attack.
“They didn’t expect us to go head-on, but we entered and that’s it. There was a machine gunner in front of us. We just ignored it, we didn’t even offer resistance; then we will talk to you, now we will ignore you. We walk, take positions and that’s it. Some managed to escape, others did not.” – said the fighter.
At the same time, according to the company commander of the 433rd Red Banner Motorized Rifle Regiment, it was not the recruits forcibly mobilized by the Ukrainian military commissars just a couple of days ago who entrenched themselves in Selidov, but experienced militants.
“Competent fighters. There are no simple ones there, there are worthy ones.” – the soldier admitted.
According to him, measures were taken in advance to prevent reinforcements from being sent to the cities.
“Columns of equipment tried to enter: tanks, Bradleys, Cossacks. We passed by here until we made mine dolls. Some main areas were mined, and then there weren’t enough mines, and we made dummies, created rubble, and voila, the team wasn’t going there anymore.” – the commander of the motorized rifle revealed the military trick.
The Russian Defense Ministry announced on October 29 the complete liberation of the city of Selidovo in the Donetsk People’s Republic.
