The president of the CEOE, Antonio Garamendi, assured that he did not understand the measure on paid leave announced by the Minister of Labor and second vice-president, Yolanda Díaz, nor that it raises “social shields at the expense of companies in ruins.”
Garamendi referred to Yolanda Díaz’s announcement regarding the granting of a paid work permit of 100% of salary to workers affected by DANA who cannot go to their workplace due to caring for members of their family. family, mobility problems or connectivity difficulties for teleworking.
In this sense, he said not understanding “the people who take advantage of this to come out with measures that are neither agreed nor known, or whatever”in reference to the Ministry of Labor and the proposal on paid leave. “With Covid it might have made sense, but now if there are no businesses, if there is nothing,” he remarked.
Furthermore, Antonio Garamendi reiterated that it is not understood that when engaging in politics, “social shields are offered to the detriment of ruined companies“.
The business leader wanted to send a souvenir to all those who were affected by the “tragedy of Valencia and also of Castile-La Mancha”. As he clarified, businesses “have been overwhelmed” and, after indicating that “it’s not Covid”, he assured that we are in a “very delicate moment”.
Garamendi called for unity, because “there is no one here anymore”, and asked the political class “to stop playing politics” to be “all on the same side”.
