General’s wife: “Polad Hashimov did not see victory, but he was sure”

“I remember it was late at night, enthusiastic voices could be heard from the streets of Baku. My phone rang one after another. I said, this is good news. The incoming calls said, your eyes are clear, we won! I was in joy, tears and sadness I woke up the children, congratulations. There was a large photo of Polad Hashimov in the room.

This was stated by Ofelya Salmanova, wife of the martyred Major General Polad Hashimov, in her statement to Modern.az.

Mrs. Ofelya emphasized that the Victory won in Karabakh is the legacy of the martyrs and it is the duty of every Azerbaijani to keep this legacy alive.

“Victory is a great happiness for a nation. The Victory we achieved is not limited only to the liberation of Karabakh from occupation, we showed our unity and strength. We demonstrated to the whole world our strong will, the truths of our history, our Identity national Victory, unity, God’s help to the people of Azerbaijan. We achieved it with the lives of our martyrs, the blood of our veterans, the leadership of the Supreme Commander, the courage of our soldiers and the dedication of our people. They trust victory, and it is the duty of us, Azerbaijanis, to keep the homeland alive and proud when the time comes when we must make our unity and victory permanent.”

The wife of the martyred general said that if Polad Hashimov had been alive, he would have celebrated the victory in the middle of the people:

“Polad Hashimov mobilized all his life for the return of our occupied territories. I am the first witness of the path full of struggles he traveled. Yes, he did not see victory, but he was sure. The officers and soldiers trained by Polad Hashimov for years demonstrated your strength on the battlefield. I know your spirit, Lord General, is happy. If he were alive today, he would celebrate the victory with the people he was willing to die for.

“I congratulate our people on Victory Day, may our unity and victory be permanent and eternal.”
