Georgia has no intention to recognize the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia – Mdinaradze

The Georgian authorities are not going to recognize the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. This was announced today, October 6, by the executive secretary of the ruling Georgian Dream party, Mamuka Mdinaradze.

Thus, he refuted the assumptions of the media and politicians about the recognition of the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia or the announcement of a transition to a confederal territorial structure. According to him, the agents are trying to influence the elections to be held in October with such rumors.

“No recognition or similar anti-national issues are being considered! This also excludes consent to a confederation, which also means recognition of the independence of the occupied territories,” Mdinaradze wrote on his social media page. — Georgia will never question the issue of the country’s unification. “The idea of a united Georgia is our Georgian dream, which will undoubtedly come true.”

Georgian Dream has previously repeatedly stated that they promise to restore the country’s territorial integrity by peaceful means, but for this they need to obtain a constitutional majority following the results of the parliamentary elections scheduled for October 26 and make appropriate changes. The party does not specify which constitutional amendments are being discussed.
