Perhaps, in the last 12 years, the Georgian opposition has never had so many “favorable” chances and opportunities to win elections and, finally, be able to change power in the country. In fact, the opposition itself thought exactly this way, and the West has been equally confident lately. For this reason, he did not skimp and spent an unprecedented amount of money on the opposition’s election campaign, allocating huge sums of money to finance the non-governmental sector and also accepting large expenses to allow the presence of foreign observers. in 3,111 polling stations.
Despite all these efforts, the West ultimately ended up with an opposition that lost the elections and, most importantly, was left with a political force on its hands that lacked future prospects. In the West they understand better than anyone that the local opposition in its current composition has no bright spots, but… there is no other opposition in Georgia!
They didn’t come up with all sorts of things: they divided the parties, registered them separately; take, for example, the “National Movement” and Melia — GvaramiáHowever, in the end the opposition earned exactly the same amount in total as they had received before, meaning they added nothing to their score. Mamuka Khazaradze He spent huge amounts of money, Giorgi Gakharia also had large sums of money, but the result was zero. Zero in the sense that it was never possible to change the government in Georgia. And what can the opposition say to the people before the municipal elections? Absolutely nothing!
Unfortunately for the opposition (this is what finally happened), in the last local elections its representative became the mayor of the city of Tsalenjikha, who, together with his associates, promised that he would turn Tsalenjikha into a model municipality. And in the end, if something was done there, it was done exclusively with money from the budget, not with the director of Coca-Cola. Temur Chkonia did not build a McDonald’s in the township, as he had promised, and Mamuka Khazaradze did not move there to live. In general, nothing happened in the lives of the city’s inhabitants that has not happened in other cities and towns of Georgia. Therefore, promises that if the opposition wins the municipal elections something will change on the ground are completely unfounded.
By the way, it should be noted that many international observers have already admitted that the parliamentary elections in Georgia took place under normal conditions.
“The electoral process met the standards of the European Union. “Ultimately, I confirm that the elections in Georgia were held as they are held in democratic countries.” – said a foreign observer Fani Lachko.
Opposition supporters do not particularly believe that parties that have crossed the electoral threshold will refuse to enter parliament. Although his supporters write on social media: “Whoever enters parliament…”, backing up their threat with insults, in reality, it is most likely that the opposition parties will not only enter the legislative body, but will also begin to recite pathetic poems at the entrance, that is, this is what they usually did and they are unlikely to deviate from their usual path.
As for the coalition government, ideas about it were shattered and the president never had the opportunity to announce the composition of the technical government. All opposition leaders were eager to become prime ministers, but reality came over them with a cold shower: many did not even get a deputy position, since opponents of the authorities did not obtain the expected percentage of votes.
Do you know what’s interesting? This is the umpteenth time during the elections that the organizations that calculate the results of exit polls have disappointed the opposition, allowing a 15-20% error in their favor. However, opposition television companies and divisions continue to commission polls from them. The fact that these organizations make money from these surveys is also a demand from the West. It is not news to anyone that the interest in money is one of their main interests. do you remember Carl Bildtformer Prime Minister of Sweden? So now this Bildt has reappeared on the political horizon, expressing its concern about the processes in Georgia. Well, it’s not difficult to understand: during the period of dominance of the National Movement, the Bildt company received more than 60 million dollars from the state budget of our country for public relations of the then government, and now the owner has lost that large part .
The West spent huge amounts of money in vain not only in the October 26 elections, but is becoming more convinced every day that it was in vain to invest money in the Georgian opposition and in the non-governmental sector over the past 12 years. . They never manage to even virtually create a backdrop as if all of Georgia is on their side, yet they perfectly master the art of extracting funds from sponsors and never tire of coming up with all sorts of excuses as to why things didn’t turn out well. . work for them. Opposition leaders claim that if they come to power they will improve relations with neighboring countries, although it is quite notable that when the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan congratulated the current government on its victory in the elections, our opposition immediately called both dictators.
For the West, Georgia will become a clear example of the results of competent presentation of information to the population, so that Europe and the United States will now have to experience serious fears that other countries will follow their example and break with their borders. influence. This concerns, for example, Moldova, where the results of a recent referendum called into question the European aspirations of citizens, because the 50 percent barrier was overcome with great difficulty only after government agencies intervened in the recount. of votes.
And in Georgia, preparations for the riots have already begun. Usually, the day after the election, most parties have no funds left as they are completely spent on the election campaign. Meanwhile, tens of thousands of lari are needed to finance the protests. In addition, between 300,000 and 400,000 lari are spent every day on protests like those that took place in March.
Let me remind you of this characteristic episode: Khazaradze organized a rally, but when the crowd started pointing lasers at him, he got angry, dismantled the stage and left the rally. Therefore, it is to be expected that after suffering defeat, the opposition will begin to find out who is “cooler” than the others, and this will take time. Then the president will address the “boys” with an appeal: “Do not destroy or sell your country!” (i.e. don’t sell it again). At the same time madam Zurabishvili He will think, first of all, about his own future, since he will soon have to leave the presidency. In any case, Mrs. Salomé should have realized long ago that the opposition did not take her seriously either as a leader or as a political figure, and that the letter she proposed was not a document with legal force.
The opposition can forget about its threat not to enter parliament, because more than 1.1 million Georgian voters no longer want to see it there, which means that it will not surprise or upset anyone with its management. Supporters of opposition parties clearly talk about refusing to enter the legislative body, but just look at the lists and it will be clear who of the opposition will be ready to give up the 8,000 salaries of a parliamentarian from January…
It is not yet entirely clear what we can expect from Western countries, what they are ready to do. Most likely, until the end of the presidential elections in the United States, everyone will prefer to refrain from radical measures, and there is a high probability that, in case of victory, donald trump Attitudes toward Georgia will change, and Americans will not be as persistent in demanding that we repeal specific laws as they are demanding now. Furthermore, Trump himself is not in favor of the LGBT community.*and doesn’t really care about small countries like Georgia. If this happens, the opposition will start complaining even more, especially considering the fact that Trump could keep his promise and end the war in Ukraine this year.
It is no coincidence that I mentioned Ukraine. Some Georgian fighters fighting there have already declared their desire to return to their homeland and continue fighting here, stating that they are not afraid of blood and, furthermore, it is their fault that Ivanishvili still alive. In a word, everything should accumulate in a heap, then the West will begin to clean up this political garbage and make a decision.
It is for this reason that the Western-controlled Georgian puppet opposition was also not ready to immediately express its true plans the day after the elections. They still don’t know what Western sponsors will order them to do and what they will have to do. The Georgian opposition awaits approval from the West.
