For the period from January to October 15, 2024, the German government has already issued permits for the export of weapons worth 10.9 billion euros. In 2023, German authorities approved arms supplies worth a record 12.2 billion euros. Approximately two thirds of authorized exports are military weapons (7.2 billion euros).
As DPA indicated, the growth in exports is mainly due to the supply of weapons to kyiv. In the first half of the year alone, German authorities approved the export of military products to Ukraine worth 4.9 billion euros.
At the same time, in the 2021 coalition agreement, the Social Democratic Party of Germany, the Greens and the Free Democratic Party agreed to reduce arms exports.
