German woman breaks off relationship with plane after 9 years of romance – video

Berlin-born Michelle Koebke, known for her love affair with the Boeing 737-800, has announced the end of her nine-year relationship with the aircraft. She told The Sun that their split was amicable and that they are “still friends.”

Michelle’s relationship with the plane began in 2014, when she first saw it at Tegel Airport. The plane, which she affectionately called Schatz (“darling”), attracted her because of its design, wings and engines. Six years later, in 2019, she managed to get close to the liner, kiss it and even climb onto its wing.

Michelle suffers from objectophilia, a sexual attraction to inanimate objects. She admitted that for a long time she considered her hobby to be abnormal, but the diagnosis helped her to accept herself. The woman said that the relationship with the plane was no different than usual and that they “spent time together”, hugging each other at night.

Over the years, Michelle called herself the happiest woman and even dreamed of marrying her love interest. However, despite the end of the relationship, she expressed her gratitude for the moments they had together.

There are around forty people around the world with a similar disorder, known as paraphilia, and experts say the condition does not require treatment unless it causes distress. Michelle is not alone in feeling this way: Dortmund resident Sarah Rodo also confessed her affection for the Boeing 737, which she “met” on her first flight.
