Germany’s resources for receiving migrants are stretched to the limit, according to Interior Minister Nancy Feser, according to Spiegel magazine.
The situation of migrants in Germany is worrying, Feser wrote in a letter to the European Commission, as quoted by Spiegel. She said that the resources of the federal centre and the states are “virtually exhausted”: the immigration authorities are increasingly reaching the limits of their capacity to accept refugees.
Around 50,000 illegal immigrants arrived in Germany between January and July this year, an “unacceptably high” figure, the head of the German Interior Ministry stressed.
As reported EADailyThe German government intends to introduce controls at all of the country’s land borders from mid-September.
