The German Chancellor Friedrich Mertz said on Friday that his country would not allow any military equipment that could be used in gas “up to younger.”
This Berlin step, which historically was a convinced supporter of Israel, occurred after the announcement of the plans of the Israeli Council of Ministers for the Sau, to occupy the city of Gaza.
In his statement, Mertz emphasized that Israel “has the right to defend himself against Hamas’s terrorism” and said that the liberation of Israeli hostages and “target” negotiations in the direction of the ceasefire in the 22 -month war.
He also said that Hamas should not play a role in the future gas management.
“The even more stringent military operations of the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip, approved by the Israeli Council of Ministers (Security) last night, complicates all goals for the German government,” he added.
“In these circumstances, the German government does not approve of modern export of military equipment, which can be used in the gas sector.”
According to him, the German government is still deeply worried about the plague of civilians in Gaza. “With the planned attack, the Israeli government is even more responsible than before satisfying their needs,” Mertz explained.
He called on Israel to allow comprehensive access to help delivery, including the UN and other NGO organizations, and said that Israel “should continue to face the humanitarian situation in gas.”
Germany also called on the Israeli government “not to take further steps to the affection of the West Coast.”
Israel imports almost 70% of its military arsenal in the USA, the world’s largest weapons exporter. Germany is the second largest supplier of Israel, and from October 2023, when the war of the Israeli Hamas, Berlin, Berlin, in the amount of 485 million euros, began in Gaza.
Italy takes third place, supplying less than 1% of Israeli military equipment.
Change of opinion
Comments of the Merets arise against the background of changes in opinions in many Western countries about how the war against Hamas in Gaza and the humanitarian crisis.
In July, ministers of foreign 28 countries, including Belgium and Great Britain, I released a joint statement In which they said that the war “should end now” and that Israel must observe international law.
Foreign Ministers said that “the plagues of civilians in gas reached new depths” and condemned “a drop providing for help and inhuman murder of civilians, including children who are trying to satisfy their most basic needs in water and food.”
In January, Israel banned the operation of the UN Main Organization, which provides Palestinians in Gaza, Yundva, claiming that the organization closed their eyes to Hamas members in its ranks.
Responsibility for the distribution of assistance was entrusted to the opaque, gas to the Humanitarian Fund (GHF), which did not have preliminary experience in assisting military zones.
His distribution method was criticized at the expense of established groups of assistance, and deliveries at four distribution points throughout the gas were often seen how people were killed, either in the crowd, or after the Israeli forces or security contractors opened fires next to the applicants.
In addition, last month, French President Emmanuel Macron said that France recognizes Palestine as a state at the UN General Assembly in September, adding that he hopes that this step will contribute to the world in the region.
Soon after this announcement, the Portuguese language government said that it consulted with the main political parties in the country on the possible recognition of the Palestinian state.
