For the first time in many years, the German government accepted large-scale arms exports to Türkiye. The potential value of the acquisition is estimated at several hundred million euros.

According to the publication, Germany’s Federal Security Council authorized the supply of German weapons to Turkey, including 100 surface-to-air missiles and torpedoes for the Turkish Navy, as well as equipment for the modernization of submarines and frigates.
The permits appear on the list prepared by the Ministry of Economy for the Bundestag (parliament). According to the document, missile manufacturer MBDA can supply Turkey with 100 guided missiles for ship air defense.
The Security Council also approved the supply of 28 SeaHake torpedoes from the naval division of the industrial consortium ThyssenKrupp for an amount of 156 million euros.
