Ghibli Ways have invaded social networks without a license agreement and are problematic

For a few days, images generated by AI have become viral on social networks. The reason? These reproduce the unique style of Ghibli Studio. A trend that raises many problems.

Impossible to miss the phenomenon. This Wednesday, March 26, Openai revealed the updated version of Chatgpt.

This artificial intelligence tool is now able to generate images inspired by the universe of the great champion of Japanese animation, the only only Hayao Miyazaki. An director with a world -famous world known for its films recognized by the public as well as by criticism, from “Porco Rosso” to “Chiro Voyage”, passing by “Princess Mononoke” and “Le Château outpatient”.

Very quickly, Internet users used the tool to produce subtitles of fictions and real events using the aesthetics of the Ghibli study, synthesized by AI.

This new program and the use made by Internet users is logically problematic for a very precise reason: Openai did not get the license agreement to produce Illustrations Use of the graphics in Ghibli’s works.

Internet users are having fun

The least we can say is that Internet users have given their hearts! For example, some users have asked AI to reproduce famous Memes in the Ghibli version. Others used the tool to reconstruct movie scenes like the studio.

“I wake up and I see hundreds of messages: Look, I transformed you into a twink like Ghibli (…),” the former president of Openai Sam Altman responded to X.

One thing is sure: This trend is not likely to please co -founder of Ghibli. Hayao Miyazaki actually sees a very critical look at the use of AI in the cartoon.

“I never wanted the idea of integrating this technology into my work,” he said in a documentary about Japanese public TV NHK.

Before I add:

“I sincerely think it is an insult to life itself”.

Note that the free version of the new Openai image generator is postponed.

“Chatgpt images are much more requested than what we imagined (and we had high expectations),” Sam Altman said to justify this period.
