FIFA has fallen in love with Saudi Arabia. And the highest international football body, chaired by Gianni Infantino, awarded the most powerful country in the Persian Gulf the highest score ever obtained in the history of bids to host the 2034 World Cup.
This declaration comes less than two weeks before the official handover of the sites of the 2030 and 2034 World Cups, which will take place in the extraordinary FIFA stadium on December 11. According to FIFA’s evaluation report on hosting the World Cup in 10 years, the Saudi bid received an exceptional score (419.8 out of 500 points), the highest score ever obtained in the history of the Cups of the world.
FIFA already carried out an inspection visit last October, as part of Saudi Arabia’s proposal process, to review all details of the bid. Members of the highest levels of international football visited potential host cities, stadiums and facilities throughout the tournament area.
The bid features matches at a total of 15 stadiums in five host cities: Riyadh, Jeddah, Khobar, Abha and NEOM, in addition to 10 other host venues across the Kingdom.
