There are currently more than 300,000 diabetic patients in Azerbaijan. Over the past four years, the number of people with type 2 diabetes has increased from 224,000 to 291,000. Compliance with quality parameters is checked.

The Ministry of Health announced that the establishment of drug manufacturing plants in our country will stimulate the development of local production and make medicines more accessible to the population.

The Ministry’s Center for Analytical Expertise reported that before each drug is allowed to be produced, imported, sold and used in the country, in accordance with the Rules on “State Registration of Medicines, Medicinal Substances and Medical Devices, Inclusion in the State Register and Maintaining the State Register”: “During registration, both by means of a set of documents and by conducting laboratory analysis, the drug is checked for compliance with the quality parameters provided by the manufacturer. , the drug production facility’s compliance with the Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) Requirements approved by the Board of the Ministry of Health is determined. During the production of each drug, its quality, efficacy and safety are taken as a basis.”

Insulins will simply be packaged

Narmin Ismayilova, head of the Republican Endocrinology Center, said that insulins imported from Russia will simply be packaged at the Azerbaijani factory: “I have been to the factory and the scientific center of this enterprise. Everything there fully complies with the requirements of the Azerbaijani government. Their insulins are more modern, have fewer side effects and are easy to use. They will not prepare insulin from scratch. This is the initial stage of production in our country. “It will be written in our own language. After a few years, insulin can be fully produced there.”

40 percent of the daily dose is administered.

N. Ismayilova noted that the biggest problem in this area is that at present not all medicines can be provided to patients with diabetes: “In Azerbaijan, a part of diabetes patients are given insulin at the expense of the state. Only children up to 12 years old. It would be better if 18 of them received insulin in full. In this regard, we have taken up the request that 60% of patients receive the first type.”

Raw materials must be reliable.

According to Ilgar Huseynli, Chairman of the Public Union for Socio-Strategic Research and Analytical Research, there is a need for insulin production in our country: “Investment in the production of insulin and other anti-diabetic drugs for diabetics should be viewed as a very positive thing. “For our country, there is a shortage in countries where drugs are not produced. At the same time, the price is higher. Production plays a special role in eliminating drug shortages.”

I. Huseynli also spoke about the quality of the insulin to be produced: “The quality of the production process and the innovation of technologies must be taken as a basis. The raw materials from which insulin is obtained must also be reliable enough to meet all standards in terms of quality.”
According to the expert, the production of other medicines at the new plant will be a success for our healthcare: “The most successful step in this field is to increase the number of manufacturing companies and factories. The production process must be started quickly. “Technology must be established that will allow the production of not only insulin, but also other vital medicines. This will help us to eliminate the problems associated with anti-diabetic drugs.”

In response to our inquiry, the company that will produce the insulin said that the quality of products manufactured in Azerbaijan will fully comply with international standards.
