Hundreds of faithful attended the celebration in the parish church of Esquivias to honor and say goodbye to Vicente Ruiz Rubio, who has been carrying out his pastoral work in this town for 43 years.
The Archbishop of Toledo, Francisco del Cerropresided over the Eucharist concelebrated with the parish priests of the neighboring municipalities. In the homily, the prelate highlighted the essence of the work of Don Vicente, who then expressed his gratitude to the authorities, the brotherhoods and fraternities, as well as to all the people who collaborated with him, without forgetting some deceased persons.
The parish priest received numerous gifts from the municipality, the patronal brotherhood, the parish community, the archbishop and his companions. The event ended with a floral offering to the Virgen de la Leche by Vicente Ruiz and Francisco del Cerro with two bouquets: one with 43 white roses that some young people had given to the parish priest; and another with 17 that they had given to the archbishop on the occasion of his 17 years as archbishop.
A thunderous applause that lasted several minutes bid farewell to the priest.who left an indelible mark on the parish, since no one forgets his countless visits to the sick and his prayers in times of greatest suffering, such as the loss of a loved one.
