Google Messages is getting an update with a feature that will make it easier to find group chats

With the new feature you can filter messages by keywords, dates or participants

Google Messages app on Android phone

Google continues to improve its messaging app. It is true that Google Messages is the de facto application for receiving SMS in countries like Spain, but it is also true that in this territory and others we prefer to opt for other alternatives to communicate. However, this has not prevented the Big G from introducing improvements to the application such as the identification of senders, although they have also made it difficult for users of custom ROMs to use.

That said, from 9to5Google we hear that Google has added a new feature to Messages that makes it easier to find group discussions. Obviously, this feature is only available to those who can use the RCS protocol (which even Apple has adopted), so if you are using a custom ROM, if Google continues to require Play Integrity API certification verification, you will not be able to use it.

Not only group chats, but also specific messages in groups

This new feature will allow Google Messages users to find specific messages within groupsa tool that until now was not available on the platform. This is a feature highly requested by users in territories where SMS is still relevant, so countries like the United States will surely be lucky.

Search Google Messages Groups joins recent improvements that Google has implemented in its messaging app. Previously, the search function was only available for individual chats, making it difficult to find specific information in group conversations. With this new update, users will be able to filter messages by keywords, participants or datessignificantly improving the user experience.

The change is part of Google’s strategy to improve its messaging app for compete with other popular platformslike WhatsApp and Telegram, which already offer advanced search features.

So far, this new feature has been seen in the latest beta version of the app and it seems that Its deployment will be gradual. If you want to try it out, we recommend installing the latest beta version of Google Messages.
