Government adds three more scandals in one day

Under normal circumstances, information about the most destructive DANA in the history of our country would have occupied the entire front page of EL ESPAÑOL today. But even a tragedy like this was not enough to prevent the scandals that arise daily around the government from occupying part of our front page today.

The first of these scandals is the refusal of the PSOE and the government’s parliamentary partners to suspend, out of respect for the victims of the storm, the vote with which they distributed the leaders of the new RTVE board of directors.

That is, with which they took control of Spanish public television.

Party TV

The list of names chosen by the PSOE, Sumar, Podemos, ERC, EH Bildu, Junts and the PNV testifies to the zero interest of the government and its partners in feigning even a minimal appearance of respect for the ideological plurality of our country.

Among the appointed advisors are Angelique Rubiodirector of a far-left media outlet, El Plural, and former director general of Information Coordination at the State Secretariat for Communication with José Luis Rodriguez Zapatero.

Also Esther de la Matacurrent press chief of the Minister of the Presidency, Justice and Relations with Justice, Felix Bolanos.

No less controversial is the name of Jose Pablo Lopezformer content director of RTVE, who was dismissed on the proposal of the previous interim president, Elena Lopezfollowing their notorious disagreements over the signing of the David Broncano.

They will also be advisors Pink Lionsinger-songwriter and former socialist city councilor, and Mercedes de Pablosformer director of Canal Sur Radio from 1996 to 2000.

The ERC advisor will be Sergi Solformer communications manager Oriol Junquerasand that of Junts, Miquel Calçadaalias “Mikimoto”, known in Catalonia for his work as a presenter on TV3, but also for the radicalism of his independence movement.

The new RTVE will be neither plural, nor independent, nor free, nor representative of the ideological diversity of Spanish society. And the analysis of the names chosen to lead it shows that it will not even try to appear that way.

An unreleased record

The second scandal involves the state Attorney General, whose office was raided today by the UCO in an attempt to seize and copy all files from his electronic devices.

The operation was ordered by the judge of the Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court Angel Hurtado.

The search of the State Attorney General’s office by agents of the Judicial Police of the Civil Guard is an event of seriousness difficult to describe without falling into trendism.

Because never before in a democracy has a judge been forced to order such extreme diligence as the search and seizure of the files and personal devices of the number one in the prosecution.

A measure which testifies to the seriousness of the accusations weighing on the Attorney General and to which the government Pedro Sanchez like his Álvaro Garcia Ortiz They have minimized their importance, in a desperate flight towards nothingness which will only further degrade the image and prestige of the prosecution.

Basque tax dumping

The latest scandal is that of the agreement between the government, the PNV and the Junts for the abolition of the tax on energy companies, which does not suit either of the two nationalist parties, and for the maintenance of the bank tax , in the form of a new tax figure, in exchange for the possibility of “reducing” it in the Basque Country.

The PNV will therefore approve the new bank tax on condition that it is not applied, or that it is applied in a very attenuated manner, in the Basque Country.

The possibility that a nationalist party will vote in favor that the rest of Spain pays a tax from which it is exempt offends rationality. Because it is no longer a question of the PNV being able to negotiate unfair advantages with the PSOE, but rather of even being able to impose fiscal “sanctions” on the rest of the country.

A measure that can only be described as fiscal dumping, especially from the same parties that in the past have criticized the tax cuts of Isabel Diaz Ayuso in the Community of Madrid, while these are not the result of any privilege, but of the regulatory margin that the laws grant to all communities of the common regime.

In short, the hypocrisy is blatant.
