The situation of saturation of the CETI of Ceuta Given the massive influx of immigrants, this situation is not sustainable. This summer there was a record number of arrivals in the Spanish autonomous city, but the government of Pedro Sánchez has not done much. The only initiative multitude So far, it is this Saturday, for which a total of 71 immigrants from the CETI of Ceuta have boarded a ferry to Algeciras. The final destination of the men, mostly Algerians, are the reception centers of Andalusia and Alicante.
THE illegal immigrants, all men and come mainly from Algeriaand some from Guinea-Conakry and Sudan, took the 10:30 a.m. boat from the Balearia company this morning. In small groups, the inhabitants arrive near the Ceuta maritime station.
Transfer of illegal immigrants from Ceuta to the peninsula
The Government has organised this transfer to the peninsula in order to alleviate the 60% overcrowding that the CETI has been suffering from since the beginning of the summer. The latest figures updated by the Delegation, dated last Friday, estimate that the number of residents in the facilities was around 820, which means that the occupancy rate exceeded 60% on Friday. But with these transfers, they are “displacing the problem of overcrowding elsewhere instead of solving it”, say groups in Ceuta.
The Delegation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, has set itself the goal of decongesting the CETI in Ceuta. The last transfer took place a week ago, on August 24, when a total of 49 migrants (including a woman) crossed the strait to the centers in Cadiz and Malaga, reports Ep..
For its part, the Ministry of Youth and Children is in talks with the local government, through the Minors Space, to organize the transfers of children to the peninsula.
The facilities set up by the City to accommodate migrant minors arriving alone on the coast of Ceuta accommodate 508 children, although they have the resources to properly accommodate 132 people. The last transfer of minors took place on August 29, when nine minors left for Andalusia and Extremadura.
This Saturday’s transfer is the largest organized since the humanitarian crisis experienced between May 17 and 18, 2021, when more than 10,000 migrants entered the autonomous city.
