“Unlike my peers, I still don’t have a smartphone.”
Gulcan Niftali, the Azerbaijani student who won first place in the TR – YÖS/2 2024 exam, which was organized in Turkey and in which 9,813 students from all over the world participated, said these words during an interview with Modern.az. He scored 500 points.
Here is the interview:
– Gulcan, how is your education going now? Are the classes difficult?
– First of all, I thank you for your attention. I am Niftali Gülcan Elnur and I am currently studying in the 11th grade at Dayanat Foundation Turkish High School in Baku. Since I got the maximum result I wanted in the single entrance exam for foreign applicants to higher education schools in Turkey, better known as TR-YÖS, I am satisfied with just preparing for the final exam. It is not difficult to prepare for this exam because I know the graduation subjects well.
– Where will you continue your education? What is your goal? What profession do you want to master in the future?
– I want to continue my education in Türkiye. My goal is to become a professional doctor. My mother is also a doctor.
– What is the secret of your success?
– Working with discipline, reading my lessons on time and learning everything I don’t know led me to success. Also, unlike my peers, I still don’t have a smartphone, although at first I disagreed with my parents about it, but later I discovered that it was an important fact that led to my success.
– What is the role of your family in being first in the YÖS exam? Overall, who has contributed the most to this success?
– In my opinion, the most important role of my family was their infinite faith in me. And without a doubt, those who have contributed the most to me are my teachers: Mahir Abdurrahmanov and Elvugar Mammadov. I thank you for your suffering.
– Is there someone in life whom you follow as an example?
– My role models in life are my parents. They are an example for me, they are professionals in their work and, most importantly, they are honest and pure-hearted people.
