After the match between Zira and Qarabag (1-3) in the 5th round of the Premier League, the head coach of the visiting team, Gurban Gurbanov, held a press conference.
Qafqazinfo reports that an experienced specialist expressed his opinion on the meeting:
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the entire Zira team, Rashad Sadigov and the management. How many points they have added to our country’s qualification in the European Cups. This is very important for Azerbaijani football. They have gained a lot of experience and I have created a new European team. I congratulate my players. We had an active match. We had a lot of time to rest. It was a faster match. I would like to thank both teams despite the fact that they were far away from Baku. I wish some of them good luck.”
The coach also spoke about the new UEFA Europa League format and the rivals in the league phase: “It’s an interesting format. We will have at least 8 matches. We will play against 8 different teams. It will be interesting for the fans, but for us it is more difficult, because we will get to know the opponent match by match. In any case, the calendar is the same for everyone, even some teams are at the Champions League level. And let’s make it a memorable year for our fans.”
The experienced specialist also praised the performance of new signing Emmanuel Addai, who scored a goal in his debut match: “It was his first match, the opponent was not an easy team. This was Addai’s first match in the last 3 or 4 months. However, both in terms of physical performance and adaptation to team play, I am satisfied. He has the potential to be better.”
