The 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) continues in Baku. One of the most interesting topics of the conference, held under the theme of financing, is the position of the United States in the next process, which did not participate at a high level in the event.
Oku.Az He reports that “Haber Global” has prepared a plot in this regard.
It is noted that the re-election of Donald Trump as president of the United States has caused concern in the fight against climate change, because Trump, who will assume the presidency again in January, could withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement. Thus, Trump withdrew from the Paris Climate Agreement during his first presidency. His successor, Joe Biden, ensured that the US rejoined the agreement. However, during the election campaign, Trump promised that his country would withdraw from the agreement again.
“Perhaps the country that has the most financial resources to allocate has said that it will not allocate financial resources to this issue. Trump says that he does not believe in multilateral agreements. But the most important thing is that he is very skeptical about the climate issue.” said Esra Hatipoglu, Rector of Bahçeşehir University.
It was noted that the United States’ position in the fight against climate change may have a negative impact on other countries.
