Hamas announces that Israel killed its leader in Lebanon after a night of attacks that reached the center of Beirut

The Islamist organization Hamas reported Monday the death of its leader in Lebanon, Commander Fatah Sharif Abu Al Amin, in another Israeli attack in the south of the Arab country during which, it claimed, his wife, his son and his son were also killed. .daughter-in-law.

“Commander Fatah Sharif died today at dawn after a terrorist and criminal assassination operation in an airstrike that targeted his entire family in their home in Al Bass refugee camp, south of the Lebanon,” they note in a press release.

This is not the only Israeli attack hitting Lebanon this Monday. An Israeli bombardment targeted a residential building in Beirut’s Cola neighborhood early Monday morning, in the first air attack on the Lebanese capital since hostilities began between the Shiite group Hezbollah and Israel almost a year ago.

The bombing hit a building in this predominantly Sunni neighborhood of the Lebanese capital, which had not until now been the target of Israel’s massive airstrikes campaign, which has repeatedly targeted the southern suburbs of Beirut like Dahye, Hezbollah stronghold.

Lebanese media indicate that the attack was directed against suspected members of the Lebanese Sunni group Jamaa al Islamiya, an ally of the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas and accused by Israel of participating in the outbreak of violence against its army from southern Lebanon. The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine later confirmed the deaths of three of its leaders in the attack.

In a statement, the Palestinian faction said the three victims are: Muhammad Abdul Aal, member of the Front’s political bureau and head of the military security department; Imad Awda, member of the Front’s military department and its military commander in Lebanon; and leader Abdul Rahman Abdul Aal.

Witnesses consulted by local media said a loud explosion was heard in the Cola district, from which a column of smoke rose visible from other areas of the capital.

Israeli forces have not yet commented on this action which, according to the local press, caused deaths and triggered all the alarms at a time when the country is still holding its breath after the death of Hezbollah leader Hasan Nasrallah in a bombing. Israeli carried out Friday in Dahye.

Until now, Lebanon’s capital was not within the range of Israel, which repeatedly bombed Beirut’s southern suburbs last year.

Israel continued this Sunday its intense bombing campaign begun a week ago against the main Hezbollah strongholds in the south and east of Lebanon, but also in Dahye and in other areas further north of the capital which until ‘until recently were not a target of Israeli attacks. attacks.

On Sunday alone, at least 105 people died during an intense day of Israeli bombing, which in just over a week left more than a thousand dead and more than 6,000 injured, according to the Lebanese government. .

This has pushed around a million people to leave their homes in recent days, according to Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati, who recalled on Sunday that his government has been calling for a truce in Gaza and Lebanon for “seven years”. .”
