Israel could become a ‘pariah’ for ‘genocide’ in Gaza Strip, UN experts say

Israel is at risk of becoming a state “pariah”UN independent experts warned on Monday, suggesting that their UN membership be considered in light of “genocide” committed, according to them, in the Gaza Strip by Israeli forces. “I believe it is inevitable that Israel will become a pariah given its continued and relentless aggression against the United Nations. [et] the palestinians »“This is a very important step forward for the Palestinian people,” said Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories, during a press conference in Geneva.

METROme Albanese has repeatedly accused Israel of committing “genocide” in Gaza since the beginning of the war. The Italian lawyer – who, like her colleagues, has a mandate from the Human Rights Council but does not speak on behalf of the UN – is one of Israel’s staunchest critics. The latter has requested her dismissal from her post. Responding to journalists by video conference, Mme Albanese wondered “if we should not question membership” at the UN in Israel, “for which [il] He seems to have no respect.”

METROme Albanese and several of his fellow experts denounced what they see as an escalation of violence and human rights violations by Israel in Gaza and the West Bank, Israel’s disregard for the rulings of international courts and its verbal attacks on the UN itself. The speakers also criticized the “double standard” Western countries and insisted that Israel must face the consequences of its actions.
