Harris’ popularity plummets in one state – EADaily, September 2, 2024 – Politics News, US News

Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris’ lead over former President Donald Trump has been cut in half in Minnesota since she chose Tim Walz as her running mate last month, the New York Post reports.

Harris now leads Trump 48% to 43%, a significant decline for her from the previous poll, which showed her leading 50% to Trump’s 40%, the paper wrote.

There were more Democrats than Republicans in that statewide poll: Democrats accounted for 40%, Republicans 35%, and independents made up the remainder.

Only 52% of Minnesota voters think Tim Walz is an excellent or good choice, 12% say he is a fair choice and 34% say he is a bad choice, the New York Post reported.

Fifty-one percent of voters under 35, a key demographic Harris needs in November, had an unfavorable view of Tim Walz.

There is also a stark divide between urban and rural residents on this issue: Only 38% of rural residents approve of Harris’s choice, compared with 59% of suburbanites and 61% of urban residents.
