Harvey Weinstein Faces New Charges Ahead of New York Sex Crime Trial

The film producer Harvey Weinstein was accused of new crimeswhich are currently being kept secret, before the celebration of their trial in new yorkas Manhattan Criminal Court prosecutors reported Thursday at a hearing. The charge will remain secret until a hearing on September 18 that will include the reading of those new positions.

The charges against Weinstein, 72, who was rushed to hospital a few days ago Bellevue in New York to undergo heart surgery, may be related new cases of sexual abuse from up to three new complainantsaccording to local media.

His legal team had asked the judge overseeing Weinstein’s case in New York, Curtis Farber, to allow the former media entrepreneur to be transferred to Bellevue because at Rikers Island prison in New York – known for its harsh conditions for its inmates – his health could not be monitored and “could lead to his death.”

Weinstein remained in jail awaiting trial new trial in November following his 2020 rape conviction in New York and his respective sentence revoked in AprilIn a four-to-three decision, it was determined that several female victims of the producer’s accusations, not part of the facts being tried, were wrongly called as witnesses during the trial.

This cancellation did not, however, mean his release from prison, since he is still serving his second sentence and, at present, the prosecution is compiling evidence and new testimonies to refile another case, also in New York, which is the one in which he is expected to appear next week.

The producer, accused of sexual abuse by up to 80 womenbecoming the trigger of the #MeToo movementwas also convicted in another sexual assault case in Los Angeles.
