He also sees Sánchez “on the ropes” and in a “delicate situation”

The international press is reporting on new cases of corruption which are affecting the environment of Pedro Sanchez. Yes, two weeks ago The economist accused the president of clinging to power “at the expense of Spanish democracy”, it is now the Bloomberg news agency which claims that Sánchez “is on the ropes”.

In an article published Tuesday, Bloomberg claims that Sánchez “is facing the biggest corruption scandal of his six years” in Moncloa, raising questions about “how long he can stay in power.”

According to the North American agency, at the “center of the Sánchez problem” is the UCO report of the Civil Guardwhich revealed the existence of “a criminal network who operated within the Ministry of Transport in 2020 and 2021, when it was led by one of Sánchez’s closest allies, Jose Luis Abalos“.

This corrupt plot, adds Bloomberg, “diverted public funds to several companies” and also paid “a woman who had a relationship with Ábalos, even though the former minister assured that there was no money involved in this relationship.

“The accusations of corruption affecting Sánchez’s entourage have put the Prime Minister against the ropes“. The agency emphasizes that the PP, “the most important group in Congress”, filed this Monday a “criminal complaint against the PSOE”.

And to Koldo affair add the Begoña affair. Bloomberg estimates that Sánchez has found himself for months in “a delicate situation” “due to the business relations of his wife”, who is the subject of an “investigation for influence peddling”.

“Corruption is a particularly sensitive issue for Sánchez, since he came to power in 2018 denouncing corruption within the PP government of his predecessor Mariano Rajoy,” explains the agency.
