The first hearing of the trial of Elsever Islamov, accused of murdering Musavat Party activist Natig Mehdi, has been held in Baku.
Oku.AzAccording to information from the Baku Serious Crimes Court, the prosecutor announced the indictment against the accused former deputy school director after clarifying certain data from the questionnaire at a meeting chaired by Elmin Rustamov. Judge Elsever informed Islamov that he could be sentenced to 15-20 years or life imprisonment for the charges. The defendant pleaded partially guilty to the charge.
It should be noted that the incident took place on May 14, 2024 at Secondary School No. 55 located in Khatai district of Baku. On May 9, the police received information about the disappearance of Natig Mahammad oglu Mehdi, born in 1964, who worked there as a security guard.
On May 14, official information was published about the murder of Musavat Party activist Natig Mehdi by his co-worker. According to the information jointly released by the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, reasonable suspicions have been established that he was killed by his colleague Elsevar Eldar oglu Islamov, born in 1966, on the basis of personal relations and buried in the territory of the Khazar region. Elsever Islamov, suspected of provoking the incident, was the deputy director of school number 55 of the Khatai district for economic affairs (house manager).
According to the indictment, Elsever Islamov was suspected of killing Natig Mehdi after punching and kicking him numerous times during an argument with a kitchen knife. After that, the defendants insulted the corpse, cut off its arms, legs and head, as well as its genitals, wrapped them in cellophane bags and buried them on the territory of the Khazar region.
The next court session is scheduled for October 3.
