Film and theatre actor Fazil Salayev lived for only 46 years, but his roles and deep sense of humour have remained in the memory of the public forever. Even after years, interest in his roles and films has not disappeared.

September 1 – On the eve of Fazil Salayev’s birthday, we honor the late actor together with his fellow artists:

Fazil’s games.

“Fazil Salayev was a student of director Tofig Kazimov,” recalls former actor Rafig Azimov.

“He also had good artistic skills. He even taught art in school. He also had good musical skills. I heard that he also worked in the circus. Fazil skillfully played our folk songs behind the piano. He was with me. His episodic roles were also memorable. He was a natural and funny person. If you talked to him day and night, you never got tired of his humor.”

R. Azimov talks about the events that happened to his fellow artist:

“In Soviet times we were preparing for festivals. Fazil acted in an interesting episode of the play “The Fortune Teller” by the Bulgarian playwright Kostov. Because of this, an unpleasant incident happened to him. During the training period, there was an inspection of his role.

“Who are those involved in politics?” They searched the houses and pockets of the actors. During the training, Fazil took a piece of newspaper out of his pocket. A part of the newspaper fell into the audience room. “Do you call these swindlers?” the actor asked. You know, there was a picture of Lenin on the other side of the newspaper. This incident is being discussed. That piece of newspaper brings him trouble. They brought up the subject of Fazil at the meeting. In the theatre they raise the question of his dismissal. Then I went to see Tofig Kazimov and asked him: “Fazil was your student. Support him.” “I can’t do it with such people,” said Tofig Kazimov. Fazil was dismissed. That day before he worked as a calligraphy teacher at the school.”

“All of his roles reflect real-life scenes”

R. Azimov considers his colleague to be a very talented actor:

“Fazil proved himself to be a virtuoso actor in every small role. He played in such a way that the audience was left humming. All his roles reflected scenes from real life. No matter how funny, satirical and humorous the style was, his acting was beyond imagination. , fake laugh Fazil played his first film role at the age of 32. After this role, Fazil’s killer Gulameli opened up new horizons. The roles of a locksmith and “umbrella” are interesting and memorable. His roles in the satirical magazine “Mozalan” were also very popular.

“Although she brought us tea, she did not leave it for Fazil”

R. Azimov says that they visited his house frequently:

“Fazilgil’s house was next to the theatre. One day we left work late again. He is careful that his wife Farida Khanum starts complaining again. Hamlet Khanizade and I went to his house with him. His wife welcomed us, although she brought us tea, she did not let Fazil have any tea. We tried to fix the situation: “This is the life of an actor, performances, rehearsals. We tried to win his wife’s heart by saying lines like “You can’t always come home early. Fazil managed to win his wife’s heart with his virtuosity playing behind the piano.”

Wherever Fazil was…

Director Abdul Mahmudov also recalls that Fazil Salayev is a professional musician and artist:
“He graduated from the Music School named after Asaf Zeynalli and the Art School named after Azim Azimzadeh. Later, he graduated from the drama and film acting department of the Theater Institute. Despite the great talent that God gave him, he was humble. When I went to a party, he would stop by and sit in the back. He never talked about himself. On the piano, he could be seen playing our old music. He had a great sense of composition! The director talks about the artistic talent of the late actor: “Nasimi” was filmed in Alince, Nakhchivan. Imagine: heat, heavy clothes, difficult conditions … Despite all this, Fazil was not in a bad mood. He drew lines from what he saw in the notebook he carried with him. He called everyone “villains.” One day he came to me: “You were sitting at the foot of the rock dressed as a dervish. It was dusk. “I drew your features against the background of the Alinja fortress,” he said. “I admire his work. It was a wonderful painting. Until that day, I did not know that Fazil was an artist. He gave me that notebook. I regret that I could not preserve that painting as Fazil’s work, I lost it.”

A. Mahmudov says that his colleague is an inimitable actor:

“Fazil was an extremely talented actor. He had great interpretive skill in his one-word words. Wherever Fazil was, there was a unique innovation. He was also a very interesting person in life. In recent years, he was inclined to drink a little. However, he did not expect anything from anyone.” A. Mahmudov regrets that the late actor did not receive the due value during his lifetime: “I do not separate the three artists – Samandar Rzayev, Jeyhun Mirzayev and Fazil Salayev. None of these three artists received what was due to them during their lifetime. At least let them pay now…”
