Franco Colapinto has become the sensation of Formula 1. In just a few races he has already scored 4 points with the Williams and in the paddock they consider him a candidate for some seats that have not yet been allocated for next season.
Gunther Steiner, The former Haas boss said on the ‘Red Flags’ podcast that teams should bet on the Argentine: “I didn’t have Colapinto on my radar and it must be recognized that James Vowles (Williams boss) has discovered a great talent.”
“The guy has arrived and surpasses or almost equals Albonwho we all know is a good talent, and what’s more he won’t have a seat next year,” continues the former Haas boss.
Williams doesn’t have a spot for next year. With Alex Albon, he will be Carlos Sainzof Ferrari. But Colapinto could take the place of reserve driver.
And Steiner believes he could have a new opportunity: “I think Williams, next year, will look at the other car when Carlos is driving.and then they will see where Alex is. “If they’re both tied, they’ll say they have Colapinto, which is ten years younger than these guys and costs a lot less.”
“I mean, for them, it’s a good position, but I’m sure They’re trying to find a place for him…or people have to watch him, because of what he showed,” he concludes.
