Franco Colapinto is the new sensation of the “Grand Cirque”. The Argentinian debuted with Williams in the premier class two weekends ago in Monza and this last one in Baku, he added his first points, already improving the results of Logan Sargeant in season and a half.
In an interview with ‘DAZN’ ahead of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, the ‘rookie’ went to a driver on the current grid: Fernando Alonso.
Colapinto recalled the day the Asturian “sponsored” him to take him to the club in 2019 when he was just 16 years old. Formula 4 hand in hand with your team.
“It’s a pride that he supported me as a “boy”.and growing up in his team in Formula 4 was something very enjoyable,” he said.
“Fernando is a great man, He had a good eye at the end. “I grew up watching F1 with him, I wasn’t born and he was already racing in F1,” he added.
For Colapinto, the Aston Martin driver is an example to follow: “He is a driver who for me left a legacy and a very great history in Formula 1″.
“He is obviously a driver that I admire a lot and who I try to learn race by race“said Franco, with whom Fernando had just had a nice detail in Monza.
