Alicante Public Prosecutor’s Office accuses businessman of embezzlement
Businessman faces three and a half years in prison for allegedly failing to return a payment exceeding 341,000 euros which he received in error in his bank account by the town hall of the Alicante city of Novelda.
The accused will be tried on Thursday October 3 in the second section of the Alicante Provincial Court. The prosecution details in its indictment that on September 2, 2008, the man, business administratorreceived the money as payment for carrying out the work of the Dance Conservatory following an “administrative error” by Alicante City Hall.
The public accusation, which considers him to be the author of an alleged misappropriation offensemaintains that the man did not return the money to the Town Hall, an administration which only realized the error in 2010, when the Bank of Spain He claimed the debt from them.
According to information relating to the case provided by the Superior Court of Justice of the Valencian Community, the Prosecutor’s Office is seeking a sentence of three and a half years in prison for the businessman accused of withholding the 341,000 euros.
