He MURDERED his ex-wife for getting into someone else’s car

On October 26, 2023, at around 19:00, Parvaneh Maharramova, born in 1987, was murdered in the Khatai district of Baku. Her ex-husband, Zamiq Tanriverdiyev, a resident of Tartar district, born in 1982, voluntarily came to the 35th Police Department and reported the woman’s murder.

It turned out that the incident took place in one of the beauty salons located at 15 Inglab Ismailiov Street.

In connection with the incident, a criminal case has been opened at the Khatai District Prosecutor’s Office under Article 120.1 (intentional homicide) of the Criminal Code.

Lent.az has obtained the investigative materials of the murder case.

The investigation established that Zamiq Tanriverdiyev was sentenced to a two-year suspended sentence under Article 126.1 of the Criminal Code (deliberately causing serious harm to health) by the verdict of the Baku Serious Crimes Court dated August 17, 2022. However, on October 26, 2023, at 18:30, he came to the beauty salon where his ex-wife Parvane Maharramova worked as a nail technician. When Zamiq called Parvana Maharramova to the salon and told her to give up her light lifestyle, she told him: “go and do your job, it’s my life, I can do it myself.” Enraged by this, Zamiq Tanriverdiyev hit Parvana Maharramova with a knife 25 times in different parts of her body. As a result, the woman died.

During the court hearing, Zamiq Tanriverdiyev said that he married Parvana Maharramova in 2004 and that two children were born from their marriage. In 2022, they officially divorced by the decision of the Tartar District Court:

“After our marriage broke up, my wife lived in a rented apartment with our 18 and 17 year old daughters. Parvana started working at a beauty salon located near the house. On October 26, I took a kitchen knife from home and went to the salon when I entered, there were 2 ladies besides Parvana. Without going towards them, I called my ex-wife, “You are on the wrong path, she is almost unable to fight.” I did not resist when she stabbed me. I do not know why I stabbed her. “I left the salon and went straight to section 35.”

Zamiq Tanriverdiyev

Zamiq Tanriverdiyev said that even though he broke up with his wife, he could not remain indifferent to the lives of his children. After seeing Parvana get into an unfamiliar car, he thought about her immoral lifestyle. How many times did he warn her before the incident? That day he went to the workplace for that purpose, but after the response he heard, he could not control himself and killed the woman.

Witness Ganira Suleymanzade said in her testimony that she went to the nail technician on the afternoon of October 26:

“Zamig Tanriverdiyev, who entered the hallway, said that he had something to tell Parvana. So the woman took off her gloves, stood up and walked towards her. After 2-3 seconds, the woman screamed “help”. I saw that person hit her first while she was standing and then on the ground. Then a man came in and tried to take the knife from her, but the person who shot her pushed her away and ran away. I met her 5 years ago. She didn’t say anything about looking.”

Witness Rukhsara Mardanova stated in her testimony that after Zamiq Tanriverdiyev called, Parvana went with him to the small room:

“There was no conversation between them. Within a minute, Parvana started screaming, and after that person fell down, he brutally beat my coworker. I had no information about Parvana’s lifestyle. I knew she was divorced and that her ex-husband stabbed his father-in-law. I had never seen Zamig Tanriverdiyev in the living room before.”

Witness Fidan Tanirverdiyeva said that her mother has been divorced for 3 years, has not committed any sins and everything that is said about her immoral lifestyle is a lie:

“My mother was at work every day until 8 or 9 in the evening. My father would just insult us with very disgusting curses. I have proof of this. It was a planned job, he just told us: ‘I will kill your mother and’. Before this incident, my father stabbed my grandfather. On the evening of the 26th, my sister called me and said: “It seems that something has happened to our mother, go and see the workplace.”

The court found that Zamiq Tanirverdiyev’s act was correctly described in Article 120.2.4 (intentional murder with particular cruelty) of the Criminal Code. He should be punished under that article in accordance with the law.

Zamiq Tanriverdiyev was sentenced to 18 years in prison by the Baku Court for Serious Crimes.
