On November 2, 2023, Gadir Gasimov, who went to the 40th Police Department of the Binagadi district, presented a knife to the officer and claimed that he had killed Zulfiyya Khamoyeva, with whom he had a casual relationship.
The incident took place in an unnumbered house located in the “Motodrom” massif.
The body of 37-year-old Zulfiya Khamoyeva was found on the stairs. According to the forensic expert’s opinion, his death occurred due to acute asphyxiation caused by damage to the right and left lungs.
In connection with the incident, a criminal case has been initiated at the Binagadi District Prosecutor’s Office under article 120.1 of the Penal Code: intentional homicide.
Gadir Gasimov, questioned about the case, said he lived with Zulfiya Khamoyeva as an unofficial partner for 16 years. Their son Huseyn was born in 2010 and their daughter Shabnam was born in 2013. They lived on rent in different parts of Baku. His wife refused to live together, saying that he was crippled and suffering from tuberculosis. After discovering that Zulfiya worked in a restaurant, he decided to kill her.
The legal heir of the victim, Galam Azizova, said that her daughter worked as a dishwasher in a restaurant located in the Zulfiyya Narimanov district and Gadir did not want to do it. There were frequent disputes between them. Gadir drank alcohol every day and was drunk on the day of the incident.
Witness Huseyn Khamoyev said that on November 2 his father took a knife and left the house. When asked where he was going, his father laughed and said, “I’m going to kill your mother.” His father thought he was joking again because he had said those words jokingly several times before. At 07:30, his father came home and woke him up. He told him: “I killed your mother, go see, I’m going to the police too.” He immediately got up and went to the house where his aunt lived. When he got there, he saw his mother’s body in the yard.
During the trial, Gadir Gasimov pleaded guilty to the announced charges. The legal heir of the victim asked that severe punishment be imposed on the accused.
Gadir Gasimov was sentenced to 18 years in prison by the Baku Serious Crimes Court and served 7 years in a strict regime penitentiary.
