On February 2, 2023, Baku resident Rovshan Aliyev, born in 1972, stabbed his ex-wife Vusala Aliyeva, born in 1975.
The incident took place in front of apartment number 21, 85 Gara Garayev Avenue. On that day, Rovshan Aliyev was detained by police officers as a suspect.
According to the forensic expert’s opinion, knife wounds were found on Vusala Aliyeva’s neck, shoulder, back and right cheek, accompanied by damage to the facial artery.
The investigation established that Rovshan Aliyev did not allow his ex-wife Vusala Aliyeva to come to his apartment because she divorced him and refused reconciliation. Therefore, he decided to kill his ex-wife with the intention of taking revenge for the repeated disputes between them.
It should be noted that during the incident, Nurjan Aliyeva, her daughter, tried to intervene and defend her mother, but was injured in her hands and arms. Despite this, mother and daughter were not lost. Vusala Aliyeva actively resisted Rovshan Aliyev and was pushed down the stairs by her daughter Nurjan. Later, Vusala Aliyeva entered the apartment and closed the door behind her.
It was possible to save the lives of the victims as they were taken to the hospital in time with the help of the emergency medical team called to the scene.
The victim Vusala Aliyeva stated in her testimony that she married Rovshan Aliyev in 2003. She worked as a tailor, while Rovshan worked in a car repair shop. From this marriage two children were born who, after living in the region for 8 years, moved to Baku and stayed in a rented house. Later, Rovshan gambled and often lost money, so he decided to quit. The couple divorced in April 2022. Furthermore, over the past year, Rovsha incurred a lot of debt due to non-payment of alimony.
At the court hearing, Rovshan Aliyev pleaded guilty to the charge. Victims Vusala Aliyeva and Nurjan Aliyeva said they complained about the accused.
Rovshan Aliyev was sentenced to 15 years in prison by the Baku Serious Crimes Court and served his sentence in a strict regime penitentiary.
