We were distant relatives. Like me, Polad was from the Vandam village of Gabala, but he grew up in Sumgayit. He was also a soldier. I was advised to marry him. The two families decided to meet us at that time. When Polad Hashimov came to a wedding, he returned to the military unit before we met. same girl at the wedding. I felt that he was very different from the youth of his time. He was twenty-eight years old. People who have gone through many difficulties are more mature than their peers.
