He sprayed himself with Novichok thinking it was perfume

A British woman called Dawn Sturgess 44 years old and mother of three, died in July 2018 after suffering poisoning with Novichok four months after a failed attempt by Russian spies to kill the double agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter.

The victim unknowingly exposed himself to the chemical weapon after being sprayed with the deadly nerve agent believing it was perfume. As luck would have it, an abandoned pot in Amesbury, England ended up in her hands after her partner found it and took it home as a gift.

While the assassination attempt on Skripal This had a great international impact and in the media, this mother’s case went completely unnoticed. From now on, a public inquiry opened this Monday in Salisbury (England) will determine whether this woman was the victim of a “cross-confrontation” as part of an “international assassination attempt”.

Skripal and his daughter Yulia were found unconscious on a bench in the town of Salisburyin the south of England in March 2018 after Russian spies applied Novichok to the handle of the front door of their home.

As a result, both became seriously ill, but recovered, as did a police officer who went to the Skripals’ home.

The attempted poisoning resulted in a wave of condemnations and rejections of Russia by the Westeven if the Kremlin has always denied its involvement.

The United Kingdom has charged Alexander Petrov and Ruslan Boshirov, two suspects identified as officers of the Russian military intelligence service, also known as the GRU, for the poisoning. However, no one has been charged for the death of Dawn Sturgess.

On June 30, 2018, This woman sprayed the poison on her skin. Fifteen minutes later he fell ill and eight days later he died.

According to the investigation, the perfume bottle found by this woman contained enough military-grade nerve agent to “kill thousands of people”.

“Those who left him showed an indecent disregard for human life,” Councilor Andrew O’Connor, who is participating in the inquiry, said on Monday. He further noted that “it is not possible to adequately investigate Dawn’s death without first understanding the circumstances of the Skripals’ attempted poisoning.”

These investigations therefore aim to determine whether the Novichok that killed the woman was part of the same batch of chemicals that poisoned the ex-spy, his daughter and a police officer.

They will also seek to clarify whether the UK took “appropriate steps to protect the Skripals from the attack and the general public from collateral damage” and whether it is possible that “mistakes were made in protecting the Skripals who indirectly contributed to Aube’s death.”
