Barcelona continue another day at the top of the EA Sports League table with many victories. Hansi Flick’s men scored five out of five after beating Girona in Montilivi by 1-4 to reach 15 points and maintain their four-point lead over Real Madrid, who also won that day. Lamine Yamal, twice, Dani Olmo and Pedri were the authors of Barça’s goals, while Stuani scored the goal for the home team.
Barça’s team was far superior to Michel’s from the start. The goals only came after half an hour of play and in seven minutes Lamine Yamal scored two. The Spanish international is as sweet as ever. In the first, he took advantage of a mistake by the Girona defense to steal, stand alone in front of Gazzaniga and open the scoring. The second arrived in the 37th minute.
Yamal collected a ball that had been rejected on the edge of the area after a free-kick, found space where there was none and sent it into the back of the net to make it 0-2. Just before the break, the home team were awarded a penalty thanks to a handball from Íñigo Martínez. But as Abel Ruiz was about to take the shot, the VAR called the referee to watch the play replay on the monitor. After watching the play replay, Muñiz Ruiz disallowed the penalty. Earlier, Bryan Gil had missed a clear chance against Ter Stegen.
The game was going to be very difficult because Íñigo’s handball was very clear. But the referee understood that it was a teammate and overturned his decision, even though at first he saw it very clearly and awarded a penalty. As soon as the second half began, another blow came to Girona, Dani Olmo’s goal that made it 0-3.
Midway through the second half, Pedri ended the game with a score of 0-4. Girona managed to score the goal of honor in the 80th after a good play by Portu, who dribbled past Ter Stegen, made the death pass and Stuani scored into an empty net.
