Hezbollah is significantly degrading: analysis of the state of the militants’ missile arsenal

The current status of Hezbollah’s missile arsenal has caught the attention of Calcalist, which reports “signs of significant degradation” in the organization’s capabilities.

The recent attacks demonstrate Hezbollah’s limited capabilities, as only a fraction of its original capacity has been utilized.

How was Hezbollah’s rocket artillery eliminated?

Identification of ammunition depots:

  • Experienced officers from AMAN and the IDF Northern Command were able to identify advanced ammunition depots located in southern Lebanon.
  • For several months before the Israeli ground offensive, the Air Force deliberately destroyed these warehouses, forcing Hezbollah to open its central arsenals in central Lebanon and organize urgent transportation of missiles to the front.

Disruption of logistics operations:

  • The IDF was able to distinguish civilian vehicles from Hezbollah vehicles designed to carry missiles. As civilians evacuated north, trucks carrying ammunition and missiles headed south, becoming targets.
  • The airstrikes disrupted the logistics chain, leaving Hezbollah unable to effectively use its missile arsenal.

Destroying launchers:

  • Over the past week, 140 launch sites have been dismantled across Lebanon, with special attention paid to key launch areas.
  • On the night of August 25, a large-scale operation took place involving hundreds of F-15 and F-16 fighters, destroying more than 6,000 missiles in one night.

Medium range missile losses:

  • The biggest losses came from medium-range missiles, which played a key role in Hezbollah’s strategy.
  • The loss of these missiles significantly complicates the organization’s strategic objectives, as they were the main element of Hezbollah’s military force.

Hezbollah has around 30,000 missiles left at its disposal, significantly less than its original arsenal. The organization retains a significant number of short-range missiles, but the loss of medium- and long-range missiles significantly limits its combat capabilities.

Hezbollah has suffered severe losses in infrastructure and logistics, with experts comparing its current state to “a fish fighting on dry land.”
