“This plan must be supported by all elements of the nation, because through this film the media can enhance cultural relations between Turkey and Indonesia,” said M Adli Abdullah in Banda Aceh, Aceh province, Saturday (12/4/2025).
He explained, through these activities, he could encourage joint efforts to preserve cultural heritage, art cooperation, academic exchange and research. In addition, the creation of skills in managing cultural talents, literature and modern culture, such as films, music and digital culture.
“Indonesia-Thurky has a long history of friendship, began in the 6th century with the kingdom of Atce, despite official diplomatic relations with Indonesia only in 1950,” Adli said.
According to him, the Sultanate of Atce and the Ottoman Empire of Turkish has established diplomatic relations and close cooperation for centuries. The relationship was made to combat Western invaders, especially the Portuguese and the Netherlands in Southeast Asia.
Adli said the period of official relations between ACEH and Türkiye had begun with the 13th century with Samudra Pasai. He then continued by the kingdom of Atce, after the Portuguese Menlaki Melaka in 1511 and the Portuguese killed the pilgrims of Atsena in 1528 AD.
Adli said that Türkiye Utamani helped Aceh against Portuguese hegemony in Southeast Asia. Utamani carried out official diplomatic relations with Sultan Alauddin Riayat Syah, ACEH’s third Sultan in power between 1537 and 1568.
“The result of the cooperation between the kingdom of Atce and the Ottoman Empire has managed to strengthen the defense of Atce against Portugal, British and Dutch colonialism.
The forms of cooperation between the Sultanate of Atce and the Turkish Empire include sending troops, equipment, arms experts and ACEH teaching how to make cannons. This was done to combat Western invaders.
