Hooded Man Plants Bomb in Center of Colonia, Injures One Person

“A 53-year-old man was slightly injured in an explosion at the entrance to a building on the Hohenzollernring in the city centre at around 5:45 p.m. (03:45 GMT),” Cologne police said in a statement.

“The doors and windows of the building were severely damaged by the explosion. According to CCTV footage,” the police statement said, adding that They are looking for a man who may be linked to the crime and that he fled after the explosion.

“He was wearing a white and blue jacket, dark pants and dark sneakers,” according to police’s description of the suspect.

The injured man, according to the newspaper ‘Bild’, is a cleaning equipment worker from the building that was located near the site of the explosion.

A video circulating on social networks and broadcast this Monday by ‘NTV’ television showed how a person leaves a bag at the explosion site and throws a burning object inside before running away towards shortly after an explosion occurred.

The Cologne police reported on their social media account X the development of a “super police machine” on the Hohenzollernring, which led to temporary traffic disruptions until after 10:00 a.m. local time (08:00 GMT).
