Houthi attack: Yemen fears Israeli reaction

There is growing concern in Yemen about a possible Israeli response to the recent rocket attack by the Houthis. According to the London-based newspaper A-Sharq al-Awast, one of the main threats remains a repeated Israeli attack on the strategic port of Hodeidah. Two months ago, the port was already targeted by Israeli strikes in response to a drone attack on Tel Aviv.

Yemeni government sources have expressed fears that possible Israeli actions could significantly worsen the already dire humanitarian situation in the country. The exact scale and targets of the alleged Israeli attack remain unknown, adding to the sense of uncertainty.

Officials at the port of Hodeidah say their infrastructure is in critical condition and a new strike could completely halt operations. Abd al-Rahman, one of the port workers, stressed that further attacks would jeopardize the use of the port, which is already operating under great difficulty.

Aid groups are also sounding the alarm, warning that an attack on Hodeidah could be catastrophic for millions of people, especially in Houthi-controlled areas where residents are already struggling with lack of food and medicine.
