Today, September 15, Yemeni Houthi terrorists launched a ballistic missile at Israel.

Kursor previously reported that this launch did not come as a surprise to intelligence services. The missile, called Tufan, is a modification of the Iranian Ghader missile, based on the Shahab-3 model. The Houthis have already displayed such missiles in military parades, and although they do not have their own ballistic missile production base, their arsenal comes entirely from Iran.
The Tufan missile has a range of about 2,000 kilometers, allowing it to reach central Israel. Preparation for launch takes about 30 minutes, including filling the first stage with liquid fuel. After launch, the rocket rises vertically, leaves the atmosphere and returns on a predetermined ballistic trajectory aimed at a selected object.
The launch was detected by reconnaissance satellites, but it is not clear why the missile was not intercepted as it approached Israel. Normally, such threats are monitored by a network of radars and satellites, including US and Israeli naval systems and the Hetz missile defense system. However, this time the interception was not successful.
The Tufan missile weighs between 15 and 17 tons and its warhead weighs about 650 kilograms, making it extremely dangerous for military and civilian targets. The incident raises concerns about Iranian weapons in the hands of Houthi forces and raises questions about the preparedness of Israeli defense systems for future threats.
