How Israel will “force” South Africa to withdraw its case from the International Court of Justice

The Israeli Foreign Ministry, headed by Israel Katz, is developing a diplomatic strategy to pressure the Republic of South Africa (SA) to refrain from taking Israel to the International Court of Justice in The Hague.

This was reported by the Walla portal.

Israel is seeking to persuade South Africa to stop accusing our country of violating the Genocide Convention in the context of the war in the Gaza Strip. According to the secret cable, the Foreign Ministry intends to use the US Congress to put pressure on South Africa.

The document was sent to the Israeli embassy in Washington and to all US consulates.

South Africa is known to have until October 28 this year to submit arguments to the International Court of Justice in The Hague to continue the case against Israel on charges of genocide. Our country is counting on representatives of the United States Congress to point out to South Africa the possible consequences for it if it continues to prosecute Israel.

“We call for immediate action with federal and state legislators, governors, Jewish organizations and others to pressure South Africa to change its policies toward Israel. It must be made clear that continuing the current policy of supporting Hamas may cost South Africa dearly,” the text of the telegram reads.

Israeli diplomats are also instructed to ask members of Congress to make public statements condemning South Africa’s actions toward Israel and warning of possible consequences, including the suspension of U.S.-South African trade ties.

Earlier, Cursor wrote that Cuba’s Foreign Ministry officially announced that the country had joined the lawsuit filed by South Africa against Israel at the International Court of Justice.
