New data from the Israel Democracy Institute (IDI) shows that Israeli society is divided over the ongoing war with Hezbollah in Lebanon.

More than half of Jewish Israelis support continued fighting on the northern front, while most Arab Israelis favor a diplomatic solution to the conflict. The poll shows a nearly even split of opinion: around 46% of Israelis support military action, while the same number favor diplomacy.
The IDI also revealed differences in the perceptions of Israel’s allies. Among those surveyed, both Jews and Arabs consider the United States and Germany “friendly” countries. In particular, Germany has improved its pro-Israel rating compared to previous years, indicating greater confidence in it among Israelis.
When asked about the readiness of the Home Front Service to protect civilians in emergency situations, opinions also diverged: 82% of Israeli Jews expressed confidence in the effectiveness of the protection, while only 40% of the Israeli Arabs considered it sufficient.
The survey results highlight not only the internal contradictions of Israeli society, but also its views on international relations and its own security.
