Payment of 787 669 283 euros for Greece with 150 billion safe was approved by a commission today, while Cyprus will receive 1,181,503,924 euros.
From Strasbourg, the European commission approved a temporary distribution of 150 billion euros to increase the readiness for defense in the European Union.
This important step, taken in accordance with SAFE (“actions in the field of security in Europe”) is designed to expand the capabilities of the EU and help the member states face critical gaps, as well as buy defense products together.
After his approval by the Council in May 2025, the SAFE program attracted great interest, since 19 states -member expressed their intention to participate and requested support outside the available budget. These states -member states are Greece, Cyprus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Spain, France, Croatia, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Romania.
According to the commission, SAFE will provide long -term low -coil -loans to help the member states urgently supply defensive equipment. SAFE will also allow the EU to further support Ukraine, from the very beginning, connecting its defense industry.
The program includes a ten -year period of grace to repay a loan, competitive interest rates and options for bilateral agreements with third countries to expand the right to participate.
Member states can now draw up their national investment plans, which will describe the use of possible financial subscription and which will be presented by the end of November 2025. Then the commission will appreciate these national plans in order to fulfill the first payments in early 2026.
Reminds that Safe regulation was issued on May 27, 2025, in the context of “Ready 2030”, an ambitious beam of defense measures that provide financial levers to the EU member states to promote investment in protective capabilities.
However, from the emergency process, the European parliament was bypassed. For this reason, he appealed to the European Court against the commission.
Although SAFE also allows countries, Candidate countries, potential candidates and countries that signed security and defense relations with the EU to participate in joint deliveries and contribute to general demand, the Greek side received assurances in the fact that its participation will participate. The most important condition is the abolition of Casus Belli at the expense of Greece, since SAFE excludes those countries that threaten the EU and the interests of the member states.
Defense Commissar, Andrew Button, said: “Safe is a historical success for the European Union. Thanks to the white article, for readiness for defense, we promised to support efforts to revise the states -member and Ukraine. Collective protection.Field
“Safety” is part of a wider program presented at the end of March by the European Commission, which is aimed at mobilizing up to 800 billion euros for re -equipment of the European continent.
